The per-role dashboard revamp — Variant A chosen & built
Every role's dashboard used to be a long vertical stack of panels, and the v4 features (retainers, intake queue, training, bar standing, stage badges…) made the busiest roles crowded. The owner picked Variant A — "keep the theme, fix the flow" — and it has now been rebuilt into all 25 roles in the live js/dashboard.js: each role gets a sidebar workspace (a left nav with count badges, one focused content pane, Overview first) instead of a scroll.
The three mockups below are kept for reference. See the Roles page for what each of the 25 live workspaces actually looks like now.
Keep the theme, fix the flow
The exact navy/red/gold components the portal already had, restructured into the sidebar workspace. Zero re-skin risk, shipped fastest, changed only structure — exactly why it won.

Same brand colors, modernized components — cleaner cards, better type and spacing, clearer status colors, subtle motion. "The same portal after a designer's week."

A brand-new visual system for the portal — new palette, new type, a distinctive court-tech personality. Biggest change, boldest result — and the biggest re-skin risk, which is why the owner passed on it.

- All 25 roles rebuilt into the Variant A sidebar workspace — left rail (identity block + nav with count badges), panes switched client-side, Overview pane always first. Mobile collapses the rail to a horizontal scroll row.
- The Overview pane leads with a "Your Tasks" to-do card: only categories that actually have work render a section (checkbox · task · reference · age · jump button); an empty role collapses to one ✓ All clear chip row instead of empty headers.
- Checking a task strikes it, moves it into a collapsed "Done today (N)" group, and drains the matching sidebar count badge. Check-state is per-user, and tasks auto-clear the moment the underlying work actually resolves — no separate "mark done" step to forget.
- Every task category is realism-audited per role — each one maps to a permission/panel the role genuinely holds, not a generic to-do. That pass also replaced the stale clerk daily-task seeds ("Check Discord tickets", "Update daily docket by 9PM") with real print-queue/filings/issuance/registry items.
The build order was the owner's four refinements in sequence: rich tasks first → collapsed empty categories → checkbox check-off/strike/persistence → the realism audit pass that retired the fake seed tasks. Full per-role pane lists and task-category counts are on the Roles page.
What's still open
- gap Browser-verified on all 25 roles (zero missing/duplicate element ids, zero console errors, mobile pass) — not yet checked on an in-city NUI terminal. Needs one hard-refresh look in the real client.
- gap The pre-existing, unwired DA/prosecutor law-office widget set (calendar "+ Add", backup control, intake shortcuts) is unchanged by the revamp — still unwired, just re-homed.
